Paint Blitzer FAQs

To use Paint Blitzer, simply submerge your miniature/s in the solution, and after just 30 minutes you will be able to scrub away the paint, varnish and primer with a stiff-bristled synthetic brush under cold running water. Then just leave your miniatures to dry and they will be ready to re-prime!

Paint Blitzer has been developed to penetrate through varnish, paint and primer and lift it away from the substrate without causing damage to the surface underneath. This is achieved through a careful mix of solvent alcohol and other additives.

All but the most stubborn of paint jobs will be stripped away in a single session. If there is any remaining paint or primer left in the recesses, you can strip the miniature again with a fresh volume of Paint Blitzer (see below).

Each time you use Paint Blitzer, a certain amount of paint and varnish will be removed from the model and will visibly dilute the solution. As well as this, a certain amount of the potency from the solvent will have been expended. What this means is, while it is possible to submerge your miniature in the same solution multiple times, it will become decreasingly effective. As well as this, there is a chance for the paint waste left over in the solution to stain the surface of your cleaned miniature.

For this reason, we recommend you use discretion if you choose to re-use the same Paint Blitzer multiple times. For maximum effectiveness, we recommend using a fresh volume of Paint Blitzer each time you strip a miniature.

Paint Blitzer has been tested extensively on a range of materials including variations of plastic, metal and resin.

Here at Unto the Breach we understand how much your miniatures mean to you, so we want to be up-front about the use of our product. While Paint Blitzer has been specially formulated to not cause damage to miniatures and take the worry out of paint stripping, due to the nature of the process discretion is advised. The active ingredients in Paint Blitzer will penetrate acrylic, enamel and shellac coatings. This includes varnish, lacquers, paint and primer. Paint, primers and coatings from different ranges will vary in their thickness and resistance, so you may find results vary.

If you have any concerns about your specific application we recommend doing a test on a small section or part and assessing the results. Additionally, feel free to get in contact and we can assist you with any questions you may have.

By nature, most resins are porous and moisture absorbent. This means that if you leave it in any liquid for too long it can start to become soft.

Paint Blitzer is still highly effective at stripping paint from resin – see some of our reviews for example of great results stripping resin miniatures! This being said, we do not recommend submerging your miniature/s for longer than 30 minutes and not using it more than once on the same miniature.

Additionally, we recommend waiting for at least 1 hour after using Paint Blitzer on a resin miniature before attempting to prime or paint it to ensure that any moisture that may have been absorbed has entirely dried.

Harder, less porous resins such as ‘Forge World’ resin are less porous, whereas softer resins such as ‘Citadel Finecast’ are much more porous. Please therefore use discretion when using Paint Blitzer on softer resins.

Please note that Unto the Breach Hobbies will not be held liable for damage that may be caused to miniatures.

The active solvent in Paint Blitzer can weaken the bond created by super glue.

It can also soften epoxy based glue or putty such as ‘Green Stuff’ or Milliput, so we do not recommend the use of Paint Blitzer on this material.

Paint Blitzer is non-irritant, non-corrosive, non-flammable, and does not release any unpleasant or harmful fumes unlike other products. Paint Blitzer is safe to use in a generally ventilated area. Please wash your hands thoroughly after using Paint Blitzer if you do not use gloves.

Paint Blitzer will not permanently stain surfaces or clothing.

Paint stripper contains a solvent, so should not be brought in contact with the eyes or ingested. If this occurs, please seek medical assistance.

Paint Blitzer has been specifically formulated and meticulously developed specifically for tabletop miniatures. The vast majority of paint strippers on the market are generic and can either cause damage to your miniatures or not have enough power to effectively remove primer or paint. Paint Blitzer contains a few similar active ingredients to Biostrip but has been formulated with a range of additives and additional magic to make it safe, fast and effective for this specific application!
